Outstories
Andrew was a founder member in 2007 of OutStories Bristol, a voluntary community group dedicated to researching and recording LGBTQ+ history in Bristol, Bath and the surrounding region. He continues to research and advise on all things historical, run events and deliver heritage interpretation for the public. Much of the group’s research is now available via an interactive map on the OutStories website.
Andrew regularly delivers talks for Bristol Pride and LGBTQ+ History Month, and is available to lead walking tours of the City Centre, Temple/ Redcliffe or Clifton.
Revealing Stories
In 2013, he co-curated Revealing Stories, a Heritage Lottery funded community exhibition at M Shed, Bristol. It was regarded as a model of museum / community partnership, and ran for six weeks attracting around 18,000 visitors. It featured in a parliamentary speech by Stephen Williams, then MP for Bristol West, during the Equal Marriage debate, resulting in a visit from the Culture Secretary, Maria Miller.
